Letters from Iwo Jima 硫黄島からの手紙 (2006)

What a pity I didn't watch this when it was release in 2006. I didn't like Clint Eastwood before, but now, I kinda want to know him more. :)

真可惜我沒有在2006年看這部電影。看完之後，我突然有點興趣了解一下Clint Eastwood。

Letters from Iwo Jima, directed by Clint Eastwood, was an amazing anti-war film that depicted the Japanese side of the famous battle in Iwo Jima. It is an island south of Japan, between some US islands and Japan. See map.

Unlike many war movies, Japanese soldiers in this movie were humane, emotional and warm blooded, the protagonist was rebellious and has no love towards the Japanese Emperor. Interesting, huh?

This film interests me because the message that everybody's lives were equally precious was very clear. Letters written by different characters, carrying the love of the soldiers to the family played an important role, run through the whole film as the key element. Just as the title: Letters from Iwo Jima.

《硫磺島戰書》這中譯片名實在太遜。明顯不是戰書，是家書！這不是單純一部戰爭片，而是一部劇情片，少有的描述日軍方面人性的一面。

最近日本因地震發生連連災禍，這部電影給我一個反思：其實，天災和人禍，哪個可以避免，答案很明顯。為何我們總是執迷不悟？

今日的核電廠事故，是天災還是人禍？......
